Photos so far were provided by a friend on the ground in Indy. Corvettes will be used as "festival cars" since they are convertibles and will carry the drivers in the Parade, and some Camaro coupes I'm told will be used for "Track" officials to use. I'm trying to get the exact counts from a friend at the Speedway. Keep checking the website for more details. Fully dressed Corvette photos have been posted now. I like them ... they are low key, but they get the message across, and yes, I personally liked the Daytona Camaro pace car better than Indy's!
That's a good question about who actually pays for the graphics, and my guess would be Chevrolet since they are providing the cars to the Speedway.

Yes, the GM cars were pulled from the auction Thursday evening, and just released to go back in Friday afternoon, so all is well again!

Hello Troy, and welcome to "the Family" ! The Registry has all of the convertibles documented that were used by the IMS Festival committee and in the pre-race IMS Festival parade this year. But our information to date is somewhat lacking on the non-parade vehicles, other than knowing all the Vins of the cars used there, build dates, etc. But we are working on building out the missing information on how they were used at the track. Needless to say, #29 was not used in the parade and was a "track" car instead of a "Festival committee" car. All this means is that it was used either by someone at the track, or a local "official", and not by the Festival Committee members or used in the parade. A "completely" documented car would have come with the following items : - Indiana "event" license plate that was worn on the rear
- Event car number and "Flag lot" parking windshield decals
- In the glove box, should have been the GM transfer paperwork that indicated who the car was assigned to, along with information on which company to contact for a replacement CORVETTE windshield header if needed
- A small photo book with 4x6" event photos, and any other individual photos that may have been taken by the people who had them that month
- Event car number underneath the rear license plate that matches the number on the windshield
- And I am trying to confirm, but there should have been a keyfob with a numbered disk that matched the event car number.
Last year, GM was mailing out a package to the first owner of record of these cars that contained the license plate and photo book. I'm not sure what is happening now, with the state of GM and where that material is! Please feel free to go to the "Contact Us" page on the website and contact our 2008 Director, LaVelle, who may be able to help you further, but for any more detailed information, we only offer that to dues paying Members. Have you already, or at least considered joining the Registry - it's only $25 annually and gets you a lot of benefits. Also, did you get your original window sticker? If not, visit the National Corvette Museum and follow the link to purchase a reproduction of your specific window sticker. They also have ORIGINAL Build Sheets for 08 that GM just dumped in their laps to sell. Ask for Betty if you call them. Stay in touch, and hope to see your name on our Member list soon!

Please check out our webpage on this subject. We have been contacted by the Bloomington Gold organizers who need several "special" Corvette Pace cars. Time is short as well as the limited number of cars they can use, so if you have a "real" Pace car, Track/Festival car, or Pace car from another major event (i.e. Brickyard 400, Daytona 500, etc.) and want to participate call them today at the numbers listed on the webpage.

Yeah, personally I was hoping for a reincarnation of the White / Orange stripe '69 Pace car for a little nostalgia for the 40th anniversary of that Pacer!

Anyone looking to purchase a set of the black Wing and Wheel fender badges? About 6 months ago, I set out to attempt to purchase a spare set for myself, and they finally came in. I got mine thru American Custom, who ordered thru their GM supplier. These are very difficult to find, and GM has raised the price several times since I ordered mine. They have a second set if anyone is interested. Call Bart - 1-800-822-8020, and tell him you were sent from the Pace Car Registry. He is asking $300 for the pair - I do not think he wants to just sell one). Now is the time to buy... who knows if they will be available tomorrow with the current state of the auto industry??? I believe these emblems are the same as those used on the 2008 Pace Cars??

hmmm, jury is still out... has Vette styling clues, but looks more like one version of the Batmobile... Guess we will have to wait and see what it transforms into in the movie!
