I'm new here and this is my first post so please be gentle with me
I live in England, UK. and have just managed to buy my favourite C5, a 1998 Pace Car. It's not my first Vette, I used to have a '72 which I spent 6 years restoring and I'm familiar with most Vettes having been a member of the Corvette Club in the UK for many years.
I have a strange request: can anyone out there please tell me the length and height of the Official Pace Car decals on the doors, and also post a close up picture of some of the lettering? The reason I'm asking is because I am missing these decals and would like to fit them, as here in England very few people recognise a Pace Car and think I must have added the fancy decals myself ;D
I have not been able to find any for sale, except single ones, and at very inflated prices. I did contact Phoenix Graphix but they were no help at all: firstly they will not sell these seperately and only sell them as part of the door package, which also includes the front and rear fender decals and the Indianapolis 500 door decals, which I don't need. I did think I might buy the package anyway and keep the extras as spares, but they want a whopping $109 to ship them to the UK, which is absolutely crazy. I recently had a set of 4 aluminium jacking pucks sent to me for $17 so you can see why I'm not willing to pay $109 postage for a few stickers!
I have a friend who does vinyl signwriting and he thinks he might be able to make a set up for me, which is why I need to know the size and get a close up so we can see the correct colour of the outline, we could also probably work out the correct font from the picture. I've looked on the internet but can't find any good clear close up shots of the decals.
Alternatively, does anyone know another supplier who sells these decals and doesn't expect to give them their own seat on an aeroplane to the UK !
