Does anyone know if the 95 pace cars came with the "official Pace Car" decal or only the track cars. I see some with it and some without. mine has the one that show the event date but not the other.

I have wondered the same thing, as I have seen photos of 95 Pace Cars for sale with the "Official Pace Car" logo on the door. I have Festival Pace Car #53, which was documented for use before and during the Indy, and that is not on my car. I purchased it from the origional owner, and he bought it one week after the race. My guess is that these were only put on the track cars and Official Pace Car. This is just my guess!

The Official Pace Car "OPC" decals were an after-thought by GM. In the summer of '95, I received a letter from S.D. McAvoy, Marketing Manager-Passenger cars, dated June 9, that stated that "A late decision was made by IMS to add a decal to each door of the Corvette Pace Car. This decision was made after all replicars were built and shipped....So that your vehicle can be a more exact replica of the actual Pace Car, we're enclosing two of these decals...." Actually, I never rec'd the decals, but was told to go to my dealer, who would have them. The dealer had no idea about this, and couldn't even find a stock number to order them. But I obtained the number from Sonny Kilgo of the Corvette Action Center and the dealer got them and installed same. That's the full story. The OPC decals are easy to duplicate nowadays, and I consider them to be a part of the decal package that all '95 Pace Cars should have....~Noel Osborn
