I've had a couple questions lately about reproduction tires for the '78 pace car. They are, indeed, now available! I saw them in person at the 2010 Corvette Funfest and they look awesome. I second the comment on the repro tires! They are very nice. Contact John Kelsey and tell them you learned about the pace car tires through the Corvette Pace Car Registry.

The tires on my 78 are original and in excellent condition although 35 years old. They have 2000 mi on them. I was concerned about age and contacted Kelsey tires. A very knowledgable sales person ask if I was driving across country, racing the car, etc. When I replied no, he stated that the tires do not have to be replaced, they are fine. They won't blow out on me and if they develop a crack, puncture, etc they will loose air as any other tire wouild. Only a major road hazard would cause a blowout. He was honest, straight forward and saved me some money.
