To help celebrate the history and tradition of the 100th anniversary of the running of the Indianapolis 500, IMS will be hosting the 100th Anniversary Pace Car Reunion, a once in a lifetime event to be held inside the hallowed grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 21-22, 2011. IMS will be accepting only Indianapolis 500 "Official" Pace Car or Track/Festival cars to participate in the reunion. In order to be considered for participation, each entry must send a completed application form, current picture of your pace car, a short biography of your vehicle, and a check for $100. Each entrant will receive 2 Bronze Badges, a parking pass, and will get to participate in the reception. You can also reserve parking for your car trailer if needed. Registration deadline is 3-1-2011. Here is a link to the IMS website for info and application form: www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/indy500/eventinfo/40731-Pacecar-Reunion/Anyone planning to go?

I plan on sending my application and $100 this week. I was unable to make the reunion this past year, so this can make up for it. I hope our registry members take up a lot of the 500 available slots.

This should be a great event for all with it being the 100th for Indy and Chevrolet!!! While in the area, make it an extra great week or weekend by visiting the Chevrolet Hall Of Fame Museum approx. 2.5 hours straight West of the Speedway! We are already putting plans together for a spectacular display for the 100th anniv. celebration in 2011.

Here are some answers from the Speedway organizers to questions from our members ..... We will post them as they come up and we feel our Forum member's would be interested.....
(q.) Will there be onsite trailer parking for Reunion entrants? (a.) Yes, there will be an onsite lot for the trailer with no charge.
(q.) If there is only one person attending with the car, how many Bronze Badges will they receive? (a.) You will receive a coupon that will be taken to the credential office for the bronze badge. It will only be good for 1 bronze badge per individual as the credential office requires specific information when issuing the badges, and will not issue 2 for 1 person.
(q.) Will an entrant be allowed to leave their Pace Car on the infield display overnight or will they have to remove the vehicle? (a.) Actually, we would prefer that the pace cars be left on display and not removed each day. We understand that some participants may need to use the pace car as their transportation while attending the event, so we will make special arrangements for those who need to remove them from display each day (at 6PM).
(q.) Will a track parade lap be offered again as it was back during the 2006 Reunion? (a.) With the Indy 500 event being shortened (from 1 month to 2 weeks), we don't think that a lap will be possible this year.
(q.) For those traveling a long distance, must they remain until 6pm on Sunday or will they be allowed to leave earlier? (a.) Although we would like to have them on display for the public to enjoy for as long as possible, we understand that some participants will be coming from a distance and do not want to inconvenience them in anyway. So, if you need to leave early on Sunday that will be fine. We would like to know when you leaving.
If you have questions / answers not listed here that you would like to share, please post them !
The Speedway indicated that they will be sending some information with the acceptance letters that will hopefully be sent out beginning next week.

The checks in the mail..... Well, almost.... Several people have questioned who to make their check payment out to when registering for the IMS Pace Car Reunion ..... According to the Speedway, they prefer if you make your checks out to "I M S Foundation" and mail to the address on the registration form.

Hello everyone. I'd love to be present at the meeting in Indianapolis with my beautifull 1978 Corvette Pace Car, but unfortunately living in Italy I have some problems:) Sorry for my bad English, I hope you can understand me anyway.
Ciao ciao

I keep watching my bank account to see if IMS has cashed my check and so far, no activity. Has anybody seen anything or know they took your payment? We will continue to sit tight! The PCR eBoard is working on Thursday night "meet and greet" with pizza, and also a place for us to gather for dinner Friday night. We're probably a week away from finalizing the plans and will post the details on the forum when we're all set! Bruce

Registration clarification - We have had some questions about whether "other" pace cars would be allowed to register for this event. Our Speedway contact has provided the following clarification to us :
Any Pace Car replica, or Track/Event car that was used as part of an Indianapolis 500 Race will be eligible for inclusion into this event. Pace cars from other race tracks (Daytona, etc.) or the Brickyard 400 will not be included. This Indy 500 Pace Car Reunion is in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Indy 500, so that is what they are limiting entries to.
So, hope this helps. Any further clarifications can be directed to the Speedway event coordinator at the link provided on their event registration page.
